We first met in jr high/high school. Cody’s friend was dating one of my friends and we had all went to the movies together. The next couple weeks we would talk for hours on the phone. We kept in touch for a bit. But, being young and a town away we lost touch. Throughout the years, we would randomly keep in touch when we were both single, but would never actually hang out. Until we officially decided to make the move to go on an actual date.
Honestly, I’ve always heard that when you find the one you will just know… and that’s how this was. We had made plans to go on a big date to STL for an all inclusive cubs/cards game but, we hadn’t seen each other in like 8+ years so we decided we needed to plan a smaller date first. After that, it was just history.
His proposal was so personalized and heart felt! He planned a whole movie date. Two years ago we had the same movie date night under the lighted canopy on the back deck. So, we made some flatbread pizza and he had the lights, my padded chair/pillow/foot rest, and candles in the canopy out on the deck. We had our projector up to watch a movie (Jurassic Park). We had an appointment to just look at some rings next week while we were in Colorado. I had emailed him a list of my favorite” rings not even a month before but we made an appointment so we could just look at some in person. He was like, “We could do that... or you could just take the one I give you?” And I was like “yeah, for sure! I just didn’t know if you wanted to pick one out.” He doesn’t really buy/surprise people with gifts in fear that they won’t like them. So I’m convinced I will have to fully pick out my ring. Then he says, “Sorry we’re not in the Dominican Republic or Denver (trips that we had planned but didn’t work because 2020 lol) but I tried to make it at special as I could- I just couldn’t wait. Then he gets down on one knee and asked me!
Our Wedding Day was the Best Day Ever! It was a very rainy October, but that’s okay, nothing was getting us down. I was beyond thankful for my talented photographer and videographer (Astrid & Riley). They know how to make any rainy day better.
We rented a beautiful lake house to take pictures at. We were surrounded by our closest friends and family. Our reception included an open bar and dueling pianos- our idea of a perfect night.
We had our wedding planned rather quick. The only thing I put off was my wedding dress. I was nervous, I didn’t want to pick the wrong one. I honestly didn’t know what I wanted. I had modeled so many dresses and didn’t get that “wow” feeling from any of them. I’m so thankful for Vayda Jane putting up with me! From waiting until a certain designers trunk show to putting it off until the lasts possible date. When my husband saw me he was blown away. He said that he’s seen me in a lot of wedding dresses but none of them have came close to this."
