I knew he was the one because we got together so young, I would have never believed that we would have ended up together and married after nearly 20 years of friendship. It wasn’t love at first sight for us, it is love at each sighting. I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone else! He’s terrible at planning things/keeping secrets so I found out his original plan almost immediately! He had to work with my parents and get creative to actually surprise me. One day, we were driving in our hometown and he pulls over, leads me to the place where we had our first kiss and got down on one knee. He pulled out the biggest ring I had ever seen in my life! Which is totally NOT my style, however I was beyond surprised, especially because I thought that I knew exactly what his plan was for the engagement. I didn’t want to seem ungrateful, so I wore the ring and showed it off proudly to my family, planning on wearing this ice cube of a ring for the rest of my life. He told me not to tell any of my friends, he wanted to keep it a secret between just us. It was killing me not to tell anyone, we had been together for over 6 years at this point so basically everyone knew it was going to happen sooner rather than later. The next day I woke up and he told me to get dressed up. We went to our college campus and he had set up an engagement photo shoot with a photographer. Little did I know that he had the REAL engagement ring in his pocket and purposed with beautiful, elegant ring—which is much more my style and I love it so dearly and am so glad I get to wear it every day! Long story short, I got fake proposed to with a 3 pound engagement ring! While we were only engaged for a year, I had 6 years to plan our perfect wedding day. Outside, at the lake, surrounded by those who we love most—or so we thought. We woke up on our wedding morning after only a few short hours of rest to find 6 INCHES OF SNOW! There was less than a 10% chance of a light dusting. So we had to completely change our venue the morning of our wedding. I personally called over 100 people to let them know that our plans had changed. Our groomsmen were kind enough to turn our reception venue into a beautiful ceremony space in less than 2 hours. All the weather mishaps aside, we spent the day surrounded by loved ones, dancing our hearts out, and sharing our love story with those who mean the most to us. I am so glad that I got my dress from Vayda Jane, I came into my appointment with my vision clouded with years of “Say Yes To The Dress” and a little clueless about what I wanted. The employees were wonderful about giving me all kinds of styles to try and ultimately I went with my consultants pick for my dress, which was definitely the right choice!”
